Cholesterol travels in the blood in the form of lipoproteins, which are tiny molecules of fat wrapped in protein. There are two major types of cholesterol:low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and high-density lipoprotein (HDL). LDL is sometimes referred to as “bad” cholesterol.
